School’s out! (nearly)

Posted on

As we are coming up to the end of the year I suspect that many of you might be on the lookout for some educational, but fun science lesson ideas. So, I have decided to highlight a few of the ideas that I have written about that might be of use:

Teaching science using chocolate

A few fun ideas for experiments using chocolate that always go down well including the popular Brain-choc activity.

Would you make a good goalie?

A lesson idea where students measure their hand-eye coordination and reaction rates to find out how good they would be at saving goals. You could relate this to other sports so it can be used in an Olympic inspired lesson.

Snakes Alive!

Carrying out, and explaining the science, behind the snake indoor firework. Any excuse for a lesson involving fire!

Edible diamonds

This post shows you how to make an edible ‘diamond’ necklace from sugar solution. It might be a nice end-of-term activity or something the students could do over the summer holidays.

To finish off, a quick plug for my Pinterest page which contains lots of other ideas for fun lessons.

Please take a look and, if you also use Pinterest, let me know so I can follow you!
